On October 24th, FIFA will announce the latest technical points ranking of national teams from various countries and regions around the world. Despite China's men's football team defeating Indonesia 2-1 in a recent World Cup qualifier match, their ranking continues to decline. This time, they slipped one spot to 92nd place with 1257.29 technical points.
The Chinese national team has been on a downward trend in FIFA rankings due to poor performance in major tournaments this year. From being ranked 79th in December 2023, losses in September pushed them down to 91st place. After losing to Australia in October, they dropped 6.17 technical points. However, a victory against Indonesia helped them gain 9.69 points, resulting in an overall increase of 3.52 points but a further slip in rankings to 92nd place.
This recent ranking marks China's lowest position in over 8 years and the worst since FIFA's adoption of a new technical points system in July 2018. In Asia, they currently stand at 13th place, with the gap between them and teams behind narrowing.
In contrast, South Korea and Uzbekistan emerged as the biggest winners after the recent World Cup qualifiers. South Korea's wins against Jordan and Iraq earned them significant technical points, boosting them to 22nd place globally. Uzbekistan, on the other hand, saw a rise to 58th place by securing important victories.
Japan, despite a draw against Australia, managed to maintain a high ranking, while the UAE suffered the most point losses this cycle. Saudi Arabia also faced a significant drop in rankings. These developments set the stage for FIFA's upcoming announcement of the latest rankings for national teams worldwide and in different regions.
